The SAT Subject Tests are designed to test a student’s skills and knowledge in particular academic subjects.  Each test is one-hour long, scored on a scale of 200 to 800, and offered on the same test dates as the SAT Reasoning Test (except in March).  On any particular test date, students may take a maximum of 3 tests.  Students should select the subject tests to be taken in light of the college or university programs to which they are applying. 

College Prep offers classes for the most challenging Subject Tests: 


Mathematics Level 1 and Level 2

Courses for the SAT Subject Tests in Mathematics include an extensive review of the mathematical concepts for the tests in Level 1 and Level 2, with topics in Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre Calculus. After lectures on topics such as conics, logs, and sequence and series, students work with a large number of practice questions presented in formats similar to those that appear on the actual tests.

Prerequisite: Students must be enrolled in Pre Calculus or equivalent courses in school.

Chemistry

Most of the students planning to apply to Pre-Med or Pre-Engineering programs will be required to take one of the science SAT Subject Tests. The Chemistry course is designed to help students fulfill that requirement. The course begins with an overview of the basic chemistry concepts that appear on the test such as acid/base, electro-chemistry, and thermodynamics. After a comprehensive review of all chemistry concepts, students work with practice questions and practice tests.

Prerequisite: Students must be currently enrolled in Chemistry I or AP Chemistry in school.

Physics

Physics The SAT Test in Physics is another test that fulfills the science test requirement for students applying to competitive science, medicine, or engineering programs. The course will review concepts such as mechanics, optics, and electromagnetism, and then provide students with practice questions and practice tests.

Prerequisite: Students must be currently enrolled in Physics or AP Physics in school.

Biology E/M

The Biology Subject Test assesses a student's general knowledge of biology at the high school level. There are two different SAT Biology tests: Version E and Version M. Students who are more comfortable answering questions pertaining to biological communities, populations, and energy flow should take Biology E. Biology M is for students who are more comfortable with topics in biochemistry, and cellular structure & processes such as respiration and photosynthesis. After a thorough review of the concepts, students will work with practice questions as well as full-length practice tests.

Prerequisite: Students must be currently enrolled in Biology or AP Biology in school.

U.S. History

The course begins with an overview of the basic periods of United States history. Students practice the analysis and interpretation of historical graphs, charts, and maps. After a review of the political, economic, social, intellectual, cultural and diplomatic aspects of US history, students work with practice questions and exams.

Prerequisite: Students must be currently enrolled in U.S. History or AP U.S. History in school.

World History

The course begins with an overview of the major chronological periods of world history. The course examines the development of major world cultures within their geographical settings. Students write essays based on the interpretation of historical documents. Students are the provided with practice questions and exams.

Prerequisite: Students must be currently enrolled in World History or AP World History in school.
